Mentoring

I like to offer a one-to-one teaching schedule for those wishing to ‘Find Their Art’.

This is accomplished by learning the basic techniques in clay and learning how to delve into the depths of what kind of art you are looking to create. Most of my students are looking to create sculpture in various mediums, not always clay but it is a great place to start for 3D artists.

If you'd like to learn more or even sign up to some intense learning please get in touch using the form below. I have a small bespoke studio so be prepared to get cosy and dusty.

“As someone who has never had any formal training in the arts, accidentally stumbling into painting and drawing, I often wondered what I wanted my creative output to be, what skills or media should I discover more about. I’m not sure I really knew what I wanted to create or why, or who I wanted to create for. Thats when I was introduced to Ceramic Artist, and teacher, Debbie Nairn. Debbie’s way of teaching is more than just imparting the knowledge, skills and understanding of clay, she is helping me explore the questions I have, without pressure or expectation and with a healthy dose of patience. Having this individual focus has allowed me to cut through the business of just ‘making’ something and is beginning to uncover where my creative journey wants to go. I would genuinely and highly recommend Debbie if you are looking to learn, expand and/or explore you’re creative goals“

“My year learning about ceramics

I have now been attending Debbie’s studio for one year to learn basic techniques of working with clay. I felt straight away that she was both an accomplished teacher and a professional artist. She offered plenty of hands-on and theoretical advice, which made the monthly three hour sessions an exciting learning event.

Debbie was ready to incorporate my own ideas into her lessons, which became helpful to my own artwork at home in my studio: Thank you Debbie for sharing your lovely studio and giving me an insight to the work of a professional ceramicist, never missing a cup of tea and a chat!”
